The 5th Annual Blanco Lavender Festival | June 13th & 14th

The fifth annual Blanco Lavender Festival will be held on June 13th and 14th, 2009. It will be a wonderful weekend, with several local farms and the whole town of Blanco participating. Approximately 7,000 people came to the farm to see the lavender last summer, many of them taking lavender-related classes or sitting down for a lavender brunch under the live oak tree in the middle of the field.

The only such event in the eastern U.S., the Festival offers myriad sensory delights with three acres of lavender in bloom.  Participants are encouraged to enjoy Willow Pond Farm’s lavender fields and herb demonstration gardens, attend lectures and workshops by internationally acclaimed experts, and shop at the “Lavender Tent” and at the dozen juried outside vendors.

This farm grows over 60 varieties of lavender.  Many of these are available for sale. There will be displays of lavender plants, demonstrations, cultural tips, make it and take it crafts for you to try, and a special Lavender Tea served in the Barn featuring Lavender Tea from Harrod's in England, and lavender goodies. Sample lavender foods, hand creams, and more. The Barn Gift Shop will be filled with lavender products.

On Saturday June 13 the farm offers an open house featuring pick your own lavender, scheduled field talks, lavender products and lavender plants for sale. Sunday, June 14th, events include live music, wine tasting, food, demonstrations, field tours, pick your own lavender, lavender products and plants for sale, and more.

Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Bring the family and a picnic lunch and join the festivities. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on leash at all times. Keep in mind that it will most likely be too hot to leave your dog in your vehicle. Dog water will be available.

7th Annual Lavender Fair - Just Keep Dancing -  at La Paix Herb Farm | June 27th

In West Virginia, La Paix Herb Farm invites you to attend their 7th annual lavender fair. "Creative Living" is the theme - The Fair will have the usual wonderful gourmet food, crafts, workshops and walks and talks on using herbs for crafts, culinary and medicinal purposes, organic gardening,  wild edibles, wild mushrooms, massage etc.  It takes place in the beautiful and peaceful country setting known as La Paix Herb Farm, which was recently named a National Historic Landmark
(May/Kraus Homestead). In addition the Fair will feature exhibits, demonstrations and workshops on how to live less expensively and easily by  using sustainable health, energy, building, peaceful and economic techniques.

Green Acres Lavender Farm located in Atascadero, California, invites you to celebrate lavender with concerts, art, crafts, massage and distillation demonstrations. With over 13,000 plants blooming in the fields, this farm offers an abundance of beauty. The festival is free. The farm will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Washington State, near Seattle, you are invited to the seventh Annual Lavender Harvest Celebration hosted on Vashon Island. The Vashon Lavender Farm Tour is hosted by the Vashon Lavender Grower's Association, which is comprised of six farms run by six different women on Vashon Island, Washington. The festival features Fox Farm, Lavender Sisters Farm, Big Dog Lavender Farm, Crescent Falls Organic Farm, Crowsfeet Lavender Farm, Lavender Duck Inn, and Testadura Lavender Farm. Demonstrations will range from the cultivation, flower harvesting and essential oil distillation of lavender to its unique role in the culinary arts.  Craft workshops will be held on wand and wreath making, plus crafts and special activities for children.  There will also be docent tours of Pelindaba’s organic fields, the Commercial Kitchen & Bakery from which Pelindaba’s many delicacies emerge, and the Production Center where over 300 products are handcrafted from Pelindaba’s own organic flowers and oil.

Enjoy local island musicians while picnicking in the Fields with lunch prepared by Pelindaba chefs and gathering your own lavender bouquets in the Cutting Field. The Gatehouse store and Nursery will be stocked with handcrafted lavender products and plants.
